I have a machine with 4.96 that is used, for email, only to send cron messages to a local mailbox or possibly to a remote one. Since a few weeks i often instead of receiveng the message i get in the mailbox:

what could be the problem ?
the only known anomaly is that sometime the connection to DNS fail, but that looks as a router or network problem [i notice it also from opther machines connected to the same router], but in etc/hosts myhost and myhost.***.** point to 127.0.0.1 so should work .
