Divine selfs, Dear friends namastè!
In this last period a read several e-mail about various opinions of
the
activities that are carried out within this world (dream) which is
the yoga
and more precisely about the tantra. I read (quite amused) about
paths of
right and, left hand, sex or brhamacharya, sex shops, meditation.
During
the years of my life in yoga, I have met teachers, students, pandit,
male
and female yogi. Between all this multitude of people and different
worlds
and realities I have not found, logically, all positive and neither
all
negative. In my life I have had the luck to meet people who were
living the
yoga in the yoga (Sanatana Dharma), and their life was a clear,
obvious and
practical example of how to move in this splendid spiritual path.
Besides,
with regret, I have seen also people that behind various titles of
swami or
yogacharya etc. etc…, printed on beautiful pieces of parchment paper,
were
performing the lowest tamasic activities. Often these people or pseudo
teachers can be theoretically very prepared and they have developed a
magnetism of theirs which they use for their low purposes. Pratically
these
people, in the life, are often identified, involved and attached to
that
world that they define illusory (maya) and from which they urge (for
paradox) their students to get detached from it, using a very florid
style
of speaking.
The tantra is for me a highly spiritual path because its purpose is
to lead
a human being to recognize himself as an integral part of this
wonderful
energy. I do not deny that I often smile when I see or read about
tantra
reduced to sexual performance or I happen to glance at some texts
that shows
a series of figures or photos of sexual positions, carefully
numbered, that
have been taken from the kamasutra (an erotic text) and that give
more the
idea lo live a stressful situation then to do sex naturally (lets
smile
sometimes). Often, the kamasutra is confused with the tantra,
forgetting
that it is only a text that speaks of eroticism and other topics that
may
interest.
I want to emphasize that mine is not a judgement since, many people I
met
through courses or conferences, are in good faith. Certainly they had
this
image of the tantra taken from some texts pseudo tantric or by
participating
at some seminars defined tantric-seminary. My remark is on those
teachers
(but they are not such) who behind the granting of spiritual diksha
(mostly
donate to women, who knows why!?) satisfy their own necessity or
repressions, hiding all behind a highly spiritual experience and not
having
clear in mind (being confused) the real meaning of karma and dharma.
After all, everything to the end moves within this laws - karma and
dharma â€"
where each human being is an integral part. It comforts me that the
tantra,
for its luck and its nature, has been defended and protected from the
stupidity and foolishness of the mind, since ancient times by the
tradition
(Smriti-Sruti). It is not my intention to erect me to judge or who
knows
what, because this is a situation similar to the scene of a dog that
bites
its tail, as everything comes from ignorance. I believe and I’m
convinced
too, that were there is good faith there can be also mistake since
nobody is
perfect in this temporary reality. In my heart, I deeply wish in a
future
of grater limpidity and clearness, where the words yoga or tantra
regain
their real deep meaning, and I’m sure that this hope is concrete and
real
because there are (and this is the beaty of life) so many lights that
although they don’t make much clamour, every day (nitya dharma) with
love,
they try to help (karma yoga) other people to lit up their inner
lights in
order to say to themselves “Hamsa So Ham”!

With love ..
Swami Shivananda Saraswati
