Well said Nick.
Obviously Marco does not deal with Russian formalities too often enough,or
else he wouldn't question the price.
Short term lease are always difficult to find and furthermore the clients
does not need to deal with the Russian landlords (who most of the time does not
speak any foreign languages) and risk being chase out of the apt after the 1st
night. The agency handles everything and in case of any issues, they give the
warranties and guarantees which is actually an operation cost to them.
As a foreigner in Moscow, we all understood that nothing is cheap here. Of
cos if we live here long enough, we still could find some bargins. But it all
takes time and sometimes painful lessons to get there.
And for Marco's company to agree to the US$3k rent, they must be happy before
they pay up the deposit. You can be unsatisfied with the service provided but
not with the rent as the tenants makes all the decisions. Services with
4Squares are good to me as I always use them for my guests when they are in
town.
Just my view.

Marco,
I would guess that many people pay much more than you do for a similar
type apartment without the cleaner, sat tv, internet connection etc.
If you look at the option of a hotel, what you spend ($100 per night)
doesn't get you much and it would make Prospect Mira look absolutely
heavenly.
Of course, you could try and find a landlord willing to rent for only 6
months, pay the agency commission too, plus the cleaner, sat tv and
internet and see how much money you've got left after wasting all that
time.
The serviced apartments business here is booming because hotels are
expensive, hotels are virtually full, apartments are a pain in the neck to
find if you don't know where to look, it's safe and clean - all of
this makes using serviced apartments a big convenience.
In Moscow, people (we) pay a lot for conveniece, don't we?
Rgds,
Nick

My company is renting my apartment from Foursquares
It's a nice 2 rooms apartment + covered balcony, fully furnished... but
they charged my company almost 3000$ per month!!
Ok... it's short time rental (only 6 months), they also provide
Internet connection and satellite TV, + cleaning service once per week.... but
it's located not really in a central position! (mid of Prospect Mira)
I don't think it's a good deal...
ciao
