All IMB did in my case was to take a photostat of my passport. The staff
there speak English and there was no requirement to have my passport
translated and therefore no fee for doing so. The only requirement from
their side is that when you open the account you need to put some money on
it to become active. The 'minimum' is a nominal amount of something daft
like 200 Rubles.

If, you're like me, and your salary or whatever else is being banked
overseas, and you only want an account in a Russian bank for occasional use,
I don't really think that you need worry too much about the share price in
Gazprom.
