press reports that 3 UK football fans got "insignificantly injured" near
Tverskaya 17. if they could (i need the broken syntax for the following,
sorry) GO ALL THE WAY to Night Flight [as urged by the Moscow Times],
conveniently located in Tverskaya 17, the tragedy could have been avoided.

it makes you question the accuracy/usefulness of the stuff you read here. for
example, it's admittedly bad that the ruble price of food has gone way up, but,
if the economy is still largely dollar based (oil is sold in dollars, for
example), and the dollar is down 5% for the 2 months or so, so that the buying
power of folks "living in dollars" is down 5%, doesn't THAT add ANOTHER 5% to
the inflation rate. sorry, i misspoke, of course it doesn't.

i will have to think on that one when I am at globus gourmet, though honestly
the novy arbat one is better than the yakimanka one. and incidentally, if you
carried Novikov's loyalty card for like 10 years, and throughput thousands of
dollars annually through it, and this january they cancel all of them and ask
folks to pay RFR 10,000 for the same thing (now that they don't need you
anymore, unlike 1998-2000), doesn't that make Novikov... well... not EXACTLY,
GQ Man of the Year. though in fairness at least it lends some credence to the
claim that you don't need a college education to benefit from GQ. this month
featuring the GQ restaurant and Novikov.

truly a land of coincidence.
