I can better that Aeroflot story....with a funnier one and so typically
Russian....
When i was flying out of Sheremetyevo, there was a Russian feller who was
trying to check in his bags in front of me and who had 40 kgs excess baggage
for the flight to London as a stop over and then to NY.
The excess baggage clerk wanted to charge him $1,000.00 for this excess
baggage!!!!!!!!!!!
Suffice it to say, he did not pay and returned to teh desk where he argued
the toss with the check in lady and then tried phoning some important
friends in the Putin Appreciation Society (FSB) to sort it
out.....unfortunately no success....
I was at immigration when I saw him, the last passenger, being checked in
with all of his bags... Later I asked him what had happened and he smiled
and said to me, I sorted it out in the Russian way as I told you I would.
Did your FSB friends help I enquired???? No....he said...I paid the bribed
the check in girl with $300.00!!!!!!!!
So beware of excess baggage at Sheremetyevo as well!!!
