Let me add some comments to this.
I completely agree that 500 dollars is pretty low for a full-time job (assuming 
that you have a good qualification and speak some English). I guess it is more 
like 800-1000 dollars (20-25 thousand per month).
However, I know some people who think 500 dollars is a good salary, but it is 
only because they are students who dont know the market and value their work 
enough either. 
As for being able to study and work, well... at MGLU (linguistic uni) some 
people study from 8:00 till 13:00, so they might be interested in this, 
especially if they don't really want to have
best grades at school.
