I had the same problem when I moved from UK to Kuwait and then to Ireland. Different countries transmit the tv sound on a different frequency. 5.5 khz in Kuwait and 6.0 hz in Ireland (or something like that).
I had a cheap sound chip change fitted into my TV in Kuwait and again in Ireland.
