Hi,

The most efficient way to do this is to have the school [in Russia] where
you are enrolled and registered apply for and get you an invitation for a
student visa, naming the Russian Embassy in France as the embassy that will
issue you the actual visa. Your original invitation can be sent to you via
courier to your address in France. The laws regarding the issuance of a
Russian visa outside your home country are as follows : You must be
permitted entry into the country without a visa for up-to six months. It
takes 20 working days to issue an invitation letter. They will need an
original notarized translated copy of your passport which can be forwarded
to them by courrier or registered mail. This can be done once you arrive in
France bearing in mind that courrier services from France to Moscow are less
expensive. The cost to obtain the invitation letter runs aprox. $200 if
memory serves me correct. [Similarly if you go the route of a double entry
business visa. A double entry business visa can be done for you using the
services of an agency. The company infinity.ru are most efficient. As an
added note - US citizens are also required to obtain health insurance for
the duration of their stay in Russia.

Hope this helps

Hope this helps.
