[editorial] Heyo all,
I don't "plug" things very often, but I found a cool cafe/bar in the center, with a truly expat/moscow mix. It's called "OK Cafe," near Mayakovskaya metro. (Directions below.) This place is good. I didn't sample much of the food, although I did scan the menu (spread: good, prices: very OK!), but the coolest thing is that the atmosphere is very pleasant -- conducive to an after-theater meal (American/European style in a way), an evening business meeting, or drinks and dessert. Their booze selection is surprisingly diverse, but NOT for the "T.G.I.F. Alabama Slammer Flaming Melonball Cocktail (tm)" crowd. I'm talking like good stuff, and yeah, surprisingly diverse. And as Alexander Lebedeff would say: "In these precarious times of recessions, crises, poverty, and the wailing of the yuppies... isn't it cool to find a place that makes you feel human?" If you see me there, and mention this post, I'll consider toasting you "za vstreche!" Cheers! -Alexander DIRECTIONS: Basically, if you look at the statue of Mayakovskiy (who is staring across the street at the Rostik's joint -- he wants a Zinger, I'm sure), now look at where his left hand points. There's an arch there. On the right side of the arch, find the OK Cafe. :)
