The Moscow friends of Kitezh and the Hash House Harriers are organising
a weekend of events over the midsummer weekend (19 – 21 June) to raise
money for the unique orphan community Kitezh Orion. (www.kitezh.org
<http://www.kitezh.org/>) Last year the event raised over $7,000 and we
hope to do better this year.
There are a number of different events and supporters can take part in
all or some of them.
On Friday evening (19 June) the Hash House Harriers have organised a
three hour boat trip on the Moscow River with plenty of food and drink.
For those who want to join this trip without joining the whole weekend,
the cost is Roubles 1,000, with all the profits going to Kitezh. There
is limited space so you are advised to book and pay as soon as possible
by sending an e mail to Marina Korobeynikova
([email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]>). You might be able to turn up
and pay on the evening (the boat leaves at 8 from Frunzenskaya Nab) but
there is no guarantee there will be room and the cost will then be
Roubles 1,200.
On Saturday, there is the Kitezh open day. If you would like to make a
donation, you are very welcome to join the Hash House Harriers and other
friends of Kitezh at Orion which is located about 80 kilometres south
west of Moscow on the old Kaluga highway. There will be a barbeque and
other fun events with the children and it will be a good opportunity to
see how Kitezh is able to act as a therapeutic community for orphan
children. To find out more about how to make a donation and how to
travel to Kitezh, please contact Katya Gurkina on +7 916 975 1603
([email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>).
The Hash House Harriers are making a full weekend of it and have booked
a hotel close to Orion and will be organising a party on Saturday
evening and more fun (including a voluntary run and barbeque on Sunday
morning). If you would like to join us for the full weekend, the cost is
€125 or 5,500 Roubles. This cost covers the boat trip on Friday, travel
to Kitezh Orion and then on to the hotel, the hotel costs, and all food
and drink. To book or to find out more, please contact Mark Redfearn
([email protected]).
