I asked fellow listers the same thing a few months ago on behalf of a friend,
and these were the responses i got- i've collated them all into one email for
you. Incidentally, we didn't use any of them- at Smolenskaya (dark blue) metro
station, there's this weird tucked anyway business centre next to the chemist.
There's some sort of fancy dress shop in there, from where my friend hired a
tux- i don't know the name or address, but it's opposite the metro exit,
slightly on the right. And it was much cheaper than Salon de Fleur, where it's
a 5000r charge and a 22,000r deposit!

I can't say that it's cheap, but there's probably not too much time to arrange
otherwise. You may also check sites like edem.ru , a Russian wedding planning
site, to find where you can rent a tux.
Funny story: my wife and I were looking for tux rentals about a year and a half
ago for our wedding in Moscow, but couldn't find a single good deal. It was
multiple times more expensive than in the US. We got creative and found a
10-day 'cruise' tux rental package in the States, sent the sizes, and had a
relative bring it over for the wedding. We actually paid about half as much
for a 10-day rental in the US as for a 2-day rental in Moscow. Go figure...

The places to look are the wedding dress rental stores. Element ran a piece on
this a while ago. I couldn't find it on the net but I remember that tuxedos are
hard to rent anywhere else.

My first idea is to try an agency serving wedding ceremonies... sure I saw
something about this option on TV. In the past (SU times, 20 years ago), we
also used to go to theatres for that, but then I had a friend there.
