Hi Rob,

Can't help you with the VCR but I went through the same process last
Christmas with some of my old tapes. It really wasn't worth it. The quality
on VCR is absolutely terrible and the conversion process doesn't seem to do
them any favours (this was on a dual DVD/VCR machine). Poor quality was
*very* noticeable on a 32 inch plasma screen. After watching several I
decided to buy them again on DVD.

So unless they are personal and/or irreplaceable, I wouldn't bother.
