Hello Expats, My name is Nick Muirhead and I work on a media review show called ³Listening Post² that airs on Al-Jazeera English. We are preparing a report on the recent bombings in Russia. At the end of each of our reports we solicit comments from around the world from people who would have an opinion on the topic. These come in the form of 30 40 second video clips that are usually submitted to us via the net. If any of you would be interested in commenting on this report then please have a read of the blurb and questions below and get back to me as soon as possible.
Our lead next week is going to look at the two bombings that took place in Russia and the media coverage that followed. After the attacks occurred many Russians turned to the main television channels for information but found little there. Why do you think that was, and what does it say about the media in Russia? We would like to hear your thoughts in a short 30 40 second video clip. Some of the questions we would like you to consider in your response are (however feel free to formulate your own statement on the bombings and the media coverage that followed): · What did the post bomb coverage say about the state of the media in Russia when it comes to stories like these? · Compare Russia¹s newspaper coverage of the bombings with their television¹s coverage? · Has the media changed under Medvedev or is it just a continuation of the Putin era? We are going into the edit with this piece tomorrow morning so I would very grateful if you could try and get something to us before then. The procedure to follow is fairly straight forward. You would need to own or have access to a webcam or camcorder. Simply record your response to the above mentioned questions (please frame your head and shoulders in the shot and talk directly to the camera), save it to a .mov or .wmv file (or equivalent). Upload the file to www.yousendit.com making the recipient address [email protected]. Please let me know at your soonest convenience whether or not you are going to be able to get something to us. It really helps a our broadcast to get a balanced perspective on a report so all/any comments on the Russian media¹s role in this story, is more than welcome. I hope to hear from you soon.
