Dear David,

Thanks for your insight about why Dry Cleaning is so unbelievably expensive
here.

I would like to propose a "Best Liked Dry Cleaner" contest in Moscow.
Nominations can include the Name, Phone number, website(if any) and Metro
Station of the nominee. The quality of customer service, price per suit,
dress, shirt or blouse(cotton and silk), winter coat, blanket or other usual
 "drycleanable" item can be mentioned.

The winners will be all of us who use dry cleaners and the various shops
that appear attractive to Expat.ru listserv viewers. If you don't want to
make your name public you can send info to me and I will make-up a
spreadsheet for anyone interested and announce this totally unscientific,
survey of those who have strong positive and negative experiences.

Who has the first nomination?

Best regards,
George Dole

For one reason the items are imported here, not made here. Another factor
most likely has to do with the oligarchic (monopoly) method of business
here; most prevelant example is dry cleaning. The unit cost bez profit to
dry clean a suit is @ 2.80 USD - so why does it cost over 35.00 USD?
Oligarch aka monopoly over the business sector. Sad but true.
