Dear Expats and Russians,
-----I'm thrilled to congratulate my 4th Form student-client, Fedor Jukov,
who won the Nov. 2017 Cambridge Bulldog English Olympiad Competition with
81,989 competitors. Fedor earned the *only *perfect *100% *score in Moscow
by answering 60 of 60 English grammar questions correctly. Fedor attends an
I.B. school in Moscow though non of his other competing classmates earned a
100% score. Fedor's Olympiad award url link is in my CV url,
*www.your-teachers.ru/george-william-dole
<http://www.your-teachers.ru/george-william-dole>*.
-----How did he do it? I gave him specialized intensive phrasal verb
instruction for over 5 months prior to the Moscow English Olympiad. Several
years ago another student showed me the 7th Form English Olympiad Phrasal
Verb Crossword Puzzle which everyone in her "international school" failed
to correctly complete in 20 minutes. Fedor's mother, who speaks English
fluently, recognized Fedor's grammatical *blind-spot* and hired me last
year to fill in his English grammar grammatical pot-holes, especially
phrasal verb control.
-----Fedor told me my instruction helped him answer correctly at least
15%(9 of 60) of the questions. If every question has only 4 answer choices
the chance of correctly guessing all correct answers for the 9 questions
that had phrasal verbs in either its question or correct answer was ¼ x ¼ x
¼ x ¼ x ¼ x ¼ x ¼ x ¼ x ¼ =1/262,144. That's one chance in 262,144. That's
over 3 times the number of smart Russian 4th Form children who participated
in the English Olympiad. We Yanks say the idiom that the other 81,987
children “had a snowflake's chance in Hell(0%)" of guessing all 9 questions
that contain at least one phrasal verb in the question or answer correctly.
-----Several years ago I copied the 4,129 English formal phrasal verbs
listed in the “Cambridge Phrasal Verb Plus” book into an Excel spreadsheet
and totaled the number of their meanings(11,561). That's about 2.8 meanings
per phrasal verb. Who wants to learn 11,561 formal phrasal verb meanings?
No one. If you can't spot them instantly learning some but not all 4129
phrasal verbs is you only alternative. Plus, any Native English Speaker can
make almost any verb a phrasal verb by adding words like “up” or “out”.
-----Fedor achievement shows he can instantly understand any Native English
Speaker all day saying or writing almost any phrasal verb the first minute
he meets him or her. What is the value of this ability? I think, priceless
but, I leave that up to you.
-----I noticed that only English editors occasionally developed this
ability over time. It happened accidentally to me in Moscow during 2009
after many months of editing TOEFL and GMAT essays almost daily. I call it
"Matrix"(like the movie)English. The rate of developing this ability is
directly correlated to the frequency and length of classes. I developed a
methodology to reduce the time it takes to "start" to demonstrate this
ability from many months to several months depending on frequency and
length of classes.
-----Fedor will compete in this year's 5th Form English Olympiad and should
produce similar stellar results. His classmates will continue to be
under-prepared for phrasal verbs while Fedor will have an even stronger
control of them.
-----His brother, Boris, goes to a school rated the top 20 in Moscow. Boris
is already stronger than Fedor with his phrasal verb control using my
methodology. Boris was too busy to participate in the Olympiad last year
but he will compete in this year's English Olympiad. He should easily be
among the top 10 students in the 8th Form in Moscow. I also have an 11th
Form student who is already mostly prepared for the 11th English Olympiad.
She made it to the 3rd level last year. She eagerly anticipates this year's
English Olympiad to reach at least the 4th level and gain its educational
payment benefits.
-----My first 100% Cambridge Bulldog English Olympiad was in 2012 at the
International English School(Elena Nikolaevna-Asst Dir) in Gribanova in the
Rublovka suburbs. Unfortunately, the family moved to Singapore to join her
father working there so the enthusiastic girl could not continue studying
with me.
-----If you have know anyone 4 to 64+ years old who quickly needs stronger
English grammar (especially phrasal verb control) please don't hesitate to
call me or have them call or email me directly.
*-----Please use my new email **[email protected]
<[email protected]>*. My present email, *[email protected]
<[email protected]>* gets too many non educational and spam emails which I
need to wade through to find English teaching requests. I also use What's
App if you include your daytime phone number.
-----See my CV for all other contact information.
Thank you.
Best regards,
George William Dole
