Hello,
I am experiencing an odd problem when trying to install mandrake 5.3 over
my very old Slackware install. I run through the first install disk just
fine, and select FTP as install method, intending to FTP install from
another computer in my LAN. Then I load the Supplemental disk, and I get
the Workstation/Server/Custom screen, and select Custom, after that the
indicator words in the upper right corner change to something like
Setup SCSI and then it just sits there grinding away on the floppy.
I have tried other floppy sets, thinking one may be bad, and tried the
floppies in other computers, where they worked just fine. I have tried
swapping the floppy drive, but no difference. It is an older machine so I
suspect hardware incompatibility, here is some of the configuration:
Generic "Green" VLB motherboard with Intel 486/66 processor,
Promise 2300+ hard drive controller, no SCSI controllers,
Diamond Speedstar Pro video card,
32 MBs RAM
Seagate 2.5 GB HD, Seagate 850 MB HD, Conner 420 MB HD.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
