Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit and comment out the following section:
# Linux Mandrake : this little script switch on the LEDs
# in console mode
INITTY=/dev/tty[1-8]
for tty in $INITTY; do
setleds -D +num < $tty
done
The change will take effect after a reboot.
