This might indicate an installer bug, but it could also be a hardware
problem. Since apparently nobody else is having the problem, I tend to
suspect the latter.
Try turning off all caches etc. in the BIOS setup (some buggy mainboards
require this), don't overclock the CPU (if you aren't overclocking, you
might actually want to try underclocking it - I've got a Pentium 66 that
crashes every few hours if running at 66 MHz, but works well at 60), make
absolutely sure your RAM and harddisks are working well.
