Hello,

I have the same problem than some other people concerning the audio
manager under KDE. All the configuration of my sound card seems to work
perfectly (AWE 32 pnp), when I log on with a first user, the plays well.
But the things are getting worse when I quit KDE to log with another
user. When I log on with another user, there is no sound, and I find
that the process 'kwmsound' is <defunct> and 'kaudioserver' is not
present. I don't know why it locks up but I noticed that all the
concerned audio devices are still ownership of the first user who gets
focus on audio.
I tried to install isapnptools-1.15a-3.i386.rpm and
sox-12.14-2.i386.rpm as proposed by R.Angelo (i used a 'rpm -i --force
*.rpm' ) by that's still the same.
By the way, when I log on as root in KDE, the zombie processes can't
be removed when i shutdown my machine and /dev/hda1 (my system
partition) can't be unmounted (causing a /dev/hda1 chacking at reboot).
  My system is a K6-2-3D 333Mhz, 64Mo, SBAWE32, Creative Blaster Banshee

Ronan.
