[expert] M6: strange pppd behaviour

Hi there!

I have had quite a hard time today to set up my dial-up scripts until I
discovered that pppd for reasons totally obscure to me keeps ppp0.pid in
/etc/ppp and not in /var/run where it's supposed to keep it (according to
man pppd). 

Anyone an idea what may cause this?
