[expert] Problems with midi

Hi!

   I have just configurated my sound card (OPL3 SAx) by sndconfig.
All tests (audio and midi) were OK But I can't yet play my midi-s...
I have tried  kmidi and playmidi -e < ... >. The result:  either silence

or random sounds.
My current linux -- RH6.0.
Can anyone  help me ?
