After downloading kernel-source and kernel-headers from sunsite I
realized that both rpmsfrom the Berlin mirror were broken.
Now kernel compiles w/o errors.
But this is (unfortunately) not the end of my trials...
Now, after having compiled the kernel
(
make mrproper
make xconfig (menuconfig doesn't work)
make dep
make bzImage
mv /lib/modules/2.2.9 /lib/modules/2.2.9-old
make modules
make modules_install
make install
)
I have nothing but errors. First I couldn't even login after
booting because an error message "can't locate net-pf-1" (or
similar) kept scrolling by.
After booting back to the generic kernel I put "alias net-pf-1
off" in /etc/conf.modules. Now I could login but syslogd doesn't
work, X can't be started and some more errors.
I just feel like the first time I compiled a kernel. That was
years ago and I thought I had learned something along the way....
