His hardware clock need to be set to GMT.  Then the problem should  go
away and the setup will be correct for any time zone.

IMO, all hardware should be set to GMT and time adjusted by time zone
information.  It makes for a smoother, more elegant installation. 
Unchecking the box is a band-aid.
