Hi,
I boot Mandrake 6.0 directly into runlevel 5, where kdm ( K display manager )
starts and controls the X session. That version of kdm allows a user to choose
from a preconfigured list of window managers ( you can change that list, too ).
Your last choise is saved, so after you type in your login name and press RET,
selector shows the window manager of your previous session.
So, it seems to me that everything is already in place, just boot into runlevel 5.
But if you want to fine tune your system, kdm eventually runs /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession script ( refer to xdm manual page ), edit it to suit your needs.
Is it what you were asking about?
Tima.
