Hello:
I received a new Pentium sytem:
- RedHat 6 already installed
-floppy drive
-no internal CD-ROM
-external "BackPack" CD ROM available
-SMB (SAMBA) enabled
I have tried several things to "upgrade" the system to Mandrake 6 with no
success:
1. -Copy the files from Mandrak6 CD-ROM to the new system's harddrive using SAMBA
- Use the boot disk and try to "Upgrade" from the files on the HD
Result: No Success - The installation can't find the install files on the HD even
though I give it the directory "/usr/files" and variations "/usr/files/MANDRAKE/" etc.
and the partition "/dev/hda7"
2. Try to install using the Backpack CD-ROM drive through the parallel port
Result: No success - install can't find CD-ROM using either AutoProbe or when I
add parameters
3. Try to install using the "bootnet.img" floppy via FTP from a local ftp server
containing CD-ROM.
Result: Install starts finds intial files but fails get error:
"mount failed: Device or resource busy"
I would appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks,
Stephen Nodvin
