OK, I tried, the linux single mode, did not work.
A friend suggested the osslinux product, I tried it but couldn't install
due
to a message "sound is compliled into the kernal.".

If I wanted to eradicate any trace of this SB 128 and start over, how
would I do this?

I tried recompling a kernal with mandrake 5.3 using the rpm's and it
failed miserably..
I didn't get too mad since mandrake 6 was in shipment. :)

I would REALLY like to fix this problem.. BTW, I cannot get sound with
Realplayer also.. I have sound, wav's, midi, but no CD, no Realplay,
and many wav's are distorted..
