Well, no. "ftape" is for _floppy_ tapes, i.e. those that are connected
to the floppy controller. You must activate IDE tape in the IDE driver
(I don't know if it is activated in the Mandrake kernel, but you can
always re-compile your kernel).
Then when you have a kernel/module compiled for IDE tape, you just use
your application (cpio, tar, or something more elaborate, e.g. taper).
