I just got lots of help here on this subject, so let's see if I can pass
some on...
1. You must install the "ipchains" package. This is the firewall.
2. Packet forwarding is disabled by default in the 2.2 kernels (I think)
You have to enable it. Look here for a quick 3 step instruction.

3. Choose valid IP addresses. Look at the ipchains HOWTO for these.
4. Set up the weirdows machine to use the Linux box as the default
gateway.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I only just learned this!
