Sure, copy the new kernel from "/usr/src/linux-2.2.11/arch/i386/boot/bzImage" to "/boot/vmlinuz" (be sure to remove the symbolic link /boot/vmlinuz and /boot/System.map first) and "/usr/src/linux-2.2.11/System.map" to "/boot/System.map". Edit /etc/lilo.conf to match your new kernel. Enter the command /sbin/lilo and restart your system. Now the new kernel should be used. However the download Mandrake sites do not come with 9 or 10. I have the non-RPM .11 kernel. I have done the make dep; make clean; make bzImage. But whenever I boot up Mandrake, it always says that it is using 2.2.9. How can I make sure? Is there something missing in my compilation (perhaps something I should do with lilo?)?
