[expert] Kernel panic???

Hi all,

I compiled kernel source 2.2.9-27mdk and installed it. While boot up I get
the error message

"Kernel panic : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 03:0c."

What is the reason for this and what do the numbers mean.
