The best thing you have to do , is to download
the last stable kernel ( SRC of course ) , because the 2.2.9
Mandrake's Kernel have many bugs ( core dump , problem with
the module loader ...etc...
And recompile it .

Objet: [expert] SCSI & modules probs after recompile
I am running MDK 6.0 with the init scripts update, kernel 2.2.9-27mdk,
Adaptec 2940UW, IBM Ultrastar 9es ddrs-39130 and an ide hd and cd-rom.
Shuttle 639 (I think) atx PII 266 with 96 megs of ram. System was running
fine but I wanted a more customized kernel ( can't leave things alone ). I
installed the headers and source rpms, did xconfig, make dep, make modules,
make modules_install, made a new initrd file and updated lilo. All that
went fine. On restart with new kernel all looks the same, it finds my 2940
gives the message I get every time about auto termination laods the
instructions and a few other kernel related things then it seems to find
another 2940?. It gives the termination warning says it found 2 scsi busses
then gives this error: SCSI host 1 abort (pid 19) timed out SCSI bus is
being reset for host 1 bus 0. Then it gives the same error but adds -trying
harder after SCSI host 1 abort (pid19) timed out and repeats that error
endlessly.
I restarted with my old "stock" 2.2.9-27mdk kernel and now it gives an
unresolved symbol error on what looks like every module ( because there is
alot of these errors ). Sytem booted fine otherwise. I did not use it much
to see what was not working, just shut down in disgust.
Any ideas, I hope?!
