Hey all,
To everyone who was following this post. I was able to get it going.
After installing the older BitchX rpm running it, then uninstalling it, and
reinstalling the RPM that came with mandrake, seemed to fix it. it now runs
on both the test box and the main server.
PS. my DNS problems should be resolved soon as well! whoo hooo
