(If this was already sent, apologies)

Hi,

I had a look, and I haven't seen this problem before, and I'd really
love some help. Anyway, here's the question:

Last night I upgraded from Mandrake 6.0 to 6.1, and everything seemed
fine, except it reset xinit to run-level 3 (so no X) ... okay, so I
reset that to 5 (for X), but then I log in and things don't work so
well. I get ".xsession-errors" of:

sh: gnome-login-check: command not found
Gdk-Message: Got event for unknown window: 0
xscreensaver-command: no screensaver is running on display :0.0
xscreensaver disabling server builtin screensaver.
xscreensaver: you can re-enable it with "xset s on".
subshell.c: couldn't get terminal settings: Inappropriate ioctl for
device
GnomeUI-WARNING **: Could not open help topics file NULL
limit: coredumpsize: Can't set limit
limit: coredumpsize: Can't set limit
limit: coredumpsize: Can't set limit
limit: coredumpsize: Can't set limit

And any terminal type I bring up says this message about setting
coredump size, and doesn't even read my ".cshrc" file (even though my
shell is correctly set to "tcsh"). Even when I source my ".cshrc" file,
the shell doesn't work properly (up down arrows don't work, etc).

If I switch "inittab" back to run level 3, and run "startx" things work
fine ... Anyone every had this problem? Any ideas? I don't like having
to type startx, and then log in as root to halt/reboot every time ....

Thanks a bunch
