Just a $0.02: I would install ssh, and throw telnet out the
door... Unfortunately ssh doesn't ship with Mandrake (I assume because
it's not GPL), so you'll have to get it from somewhere else. The main
site is http://www.ssh.fi.

As a second suggestion: get ssh-1.2.27, not ssh-2x. ssh2 is claimed to
be a complete rewrite, but it seems completely botched to me. It is a
pain to configure, gives you a 2x reduction in performance, and only
has dubious advantages over ssh1.
