Can someone help with this project??
using mandrake 6.0, how can i make a working bridge
using eth0 (3c509) and eth1 (lucent/wavelan pcmcia ieee) wireless
card.?
I have no problems getting both cards to work
except when i try to bridge them.. the situation is this:
i'm trying to extend my (downtown office) network
via wireless to my house. At home, in my mandrake computer, the wireless card
talks to my (downtown)office. the eth0 card plugs into my hub and my other home
computers plug into the hub as well.
i NEED to use some of my class-c IP's , 1 for
each of my home computers.
so anyway.. i get all set up.. both cards are
working and i read the bridging mini howto.
So i recompile the kernel and install it. no
probs..
i remove ip's from the cards.. no probs. (is this
absolutely neccesary?)
i put both cards into promisc mode.. no
probs
i get the bridge package and do a bridge -ena .. no
probs. (says bridging is enabled)
but IT DOESNT work!
doing a tcpdump on eth0 in one window and eth1 in
another window - show identical traffic..it is showing the tcp traffic that is
on the wireless network.
I understand the bridging mini howto deals with 2
NICs .. does it apply or is it possible with 1 10baseT nic and 1 wireless pcmcia
nic?
Please help!
TIA
Brian
