I just put in a plextor 8220Te ( 8x CD-r, 2x CD-RW, 20x CD-ROM ) external
SCSI ( I assume the internal works just as well ).
Using cd-record and my own scripts it's taken over for 3 other 2x burners
and a few 1x I was using for several years. As it can burn more disks in
the same time then all of them combined :)
Buffer hasn't been below 56% and that was when I was also transfering files
in/out across nfs and samba while it burned a premade CD image file.
