I've just installed the IBM Java Development Kit 1.1.8 with
native thread support und JIT compiler. IBM says they have
tested it with RedHat 6.0.
I can compile applets with javac but as soon as I start
the appletviewer nothing happens (with the exception of about
10 appletviewer threads in the process table).
After replacing the glibc-2.1.1 from Mandrake 6.0 with the glibc-2.1.1
from RedHat 6.0 everything works fine.
By the way, the same happens with JDK 1.1.7v3 from blackdown.org
if I use native thread support instead of green threads.
Is the the thread support of the Mandrake 6.0 glibc-2.1.1 somehow broken ?
Has anyone tested the IBM JDK 1.1.8 with Mandrake 6.1 ?
(Haven't got my 6.1 CDs yet)
