Hi there!

My external modem only manages to connect every second time I'm
starting pppd.
The Chat script looks like this:

TIMEOUT 30
ABORT "NO CARRIER"
ABORT "NO DIALTONE"
ABORT ERROR
ABORT "NO ANSWER"
ABORT BUSY
ABORT "Username/Password Incorrect"
"" +++ATZ
TIMEOUT 20
OK ATD010980193434
TIMEOUT 10
CONNECT ""

Here are two sessions from /var/log/messages, the first successful,
the second not:

Oct 26 12:27:15 baer pppd[1854]: pppd 2.3.8 started by tom, uid 500

Initstring is ok (worked every time with kppp), ATD too. Already
tried different time-out settings but this doesn't seem to be the
problem: I don't understand why there's an EOL in the
second session when the modem is expected to dial. Ideas?

Regards

tom
