I have Mandrake 6.1 (clean install) running on several machines and it runs
StarOffice5.1a (From Sun Microsystems) very well.
I also have a machine "upgraded" from RH6.0 to Mandrake 6.1 where it works.
My "upgrade" method was to INSTALL Mandrake 6.1 without formatting the
partitions.
There were relatively few problems with this method of upgrade, though
customized desktop settings do not seem to have survived. I think it was one
of the list members who reported success with this that led me to try it
instead of a "wipe and install" which has been my method of upgrading
before. (Of course, I do keep /home and /usr/local partitions and don't
format them on installs). I learned with RH 5.0 to 5.1 and 5.1 to 5.2 to
keep my mitts off the "upgrade" button and I am still waiting for someone to
say it is OK to use it before I try it again.
