Hi,

I have seen quite a lot messages recently about failing smbmount mounted
shares from Win9x. Most people (including myself) experience disappearing
shares after some time - not reconnecting automatically - instead you have
to umount the share and smbmount it again.

I am running LM 6.1 (upgraded from 6.0 without any problems ...)

After testing hundreds of different samba options I decided to recompile
that samba-2.0.5a from source RPM. I tried the RPM rebuild option and that
FAILED with "internal compiler error" - btw. my gcc is "pgcc-1.1.3-3mdk".
Therefore I have decided to make that "smbmount" utility by hand using plain
"make" without any optimizations - and suddenly the smbmount WORKS !! that
is it reconnects all expired sessions exactly as it should do ....

Please can someone explain what's wrong with that optimized RPM ???
