Sen,
This sounds like an interupt conflict between your video card and your
nic. You need to run the 3c5x9cfg.exe setup program that came with the
card, from dos, to move the interupt if that's the case. (You might need
to move the memory address but I doubt it.) The 3c509.o module that came
with Mandrake will work. There was no need to download anything from
3com for linux but you can get the above mentioned dos program from
them. Put the following line in /etc/conf.modules:
alias eth0 3c509
Assuming that the 3c509 is the only ethernet card you have. The module
will find the interupt and memory address.
All my nics were 3c509b's untill I upgraded to 100mbps. They are great
cards!
