May be it's OT, but i need help.
The problem.
My problem is that my /home partition has been formatted
and fscheck-ed.
Can I try to restore something?
I'm mainly concerned in restore some Star Office
spread-sheets.
I tried using dumpefs with no results. I tried to found
something in deja.com but i didn't find anything useful.
May be the interesting letters have been posted with
subjects like "#%$#@##$$%^"...
The history.
I use Mdk-6.1, but i have a partition I use
to test other distributions. I did it several times.
I tested RedHat-6.1. I choose "custom" installation
in order to save Mdk-partitions. I choose packets
to install. I was warned space was not enough.
I came back to remove some packet (gnome).
The installation program failed and switched on
"workstation". As result: Mdk partitions formatted,
Gnome installed, packets I choose not installed, ...
At last, but not the least, when system restarted
it found /home partition achieved "max mount count"
and fschecked it. :-(((
The wish.
I hope Mandrake's programmers will introduce in their version
of installation procedure a dialog box allowing
to stop unwanted formats. The problem arrives
seldom, but if arrives it's very "unpleasant".
bye, Andrea
