Twice recently my mandrake 6.1 system locked up
completely, responding to keyboard nor mouse nor telnet, to
the extent that it had to be reset. The message log for the
first of these gives an error for a kernel paging request
followed by sundry details; the second crash was not
logged. Any suggestions as to how to begin unravelling the
problem?
I would add that the x-server itself (running the Mandrake
default KDE desktop) has been unstable - mainly the font
server crashing but also a number of KiKbd errors
(BadWindow). But that seemed to bring the x-server down but
not the whole system. Suggestions about the cause
of these problems would also be welcome.
