[expert] Kernel panics when rescue disk booting

I have tried a couple of times to use the rescue floppy disk (produced
by the first installation).  The panic message says something like "No init
console available".

What I did is:
        boot it from the rescue floppy
        type "rescue" for the first prompt
        just press ENTER when asked ram disk

Any idea?
