This is related to what I thought were permission problems.
chown root /dev/audio
chown root /dev/dsp
Did change the owner back from a 'user' to 'root', However:
Did not help the problem though will be useful to know .
I am running L-M 6.1 with AWE32
The card was recognized with the install.
Everything has worked fine for months now other that the occasional
permission prob.
Suddenly No luck with any sound related program whether as root or user
TWO DAYS ago EVERYTHING worked;G2player,SoundStudio,MP3 players of
several flavors,
icecast/shoutcast reception.Cdplayer,Speakfreely internet phone,etc.
Okay so my knee-jerk reaction is reboot:
Well sound modules are configured okay, I can even hear the speakers
'click' upon initialization.
However, Still No Luck.
Okay "what about sndconfig" you might ask?
Well now the blasted thing does NOT recognize the AWE32 soundcard!!!???
Manual configuration gives conflicting error messages.
Obviously something is broken. I will be the first to admit I sometimes
take a "leap of faith"
where caution might have been warrented.
What have I done??? How to "Make it So"? And get back to "Warp Drive"
again???
Help would be apreciated.
