I have happily installed Linux Mandrake on a Sony VAIO
portable (by the way: totally painless -- great job, Mandrake :-) The
only thing which gives problem is the modem PCMCIA card which comes
with the computer itself, a "COM one Platinium Card MC221 Discovery
V.90 Data/Fax Modem". When inserted in the slot, the card is not
identified in any way, i.e. cardctl config gives "no product info
available", and therefore I have no clue about how to get the card
identified as a modem. I have in the past used "El Cheapo" PCMCIA
modems by simply adding their info strings in /etc/pcmcia/config, but
with this one I really have no clue about how to proceed. Any hints
from the gurus?

BTW I do not believe this is a "winmodem", as the doc from the
company claims can be used on a Macintosh no problem.

Finally, for the Mandrake people: when will Mandrake be
available in the shops in Holland? I only find RedHat here... I would
like to give you money, but I don't find a way... :-)
