According to make.out gcc is giving up because it cannot find
a declaration for the variable "smp_num_cpus" - that makes me
think that SMP is _not_ deactivated correctly. Which would seem
to me that there is something not right about the rpm you got.
I compiled a stock 2.2.13 kernel source tree (not an rpm - the
actual source as released by Linus and Alan et al) and it worked
fine with your config - looks like another Mandrake bug and perhaps
the same one that bit you earlier.
I'm downloading the Mandrake source tree now - but it won't arrive
until after I've gone home. I'll let you know what happened tomorrow.
