I have been following this list for a couple of months now, all of my
operational problems have been answered with out me having to send a single
email. My question has any one been successful in running "anyj" on a
Mandrake 6.1 box. I have it installed but have been unable to get it to run
yet. I have tried both the IBM jdk and the one on blackdown.org they both
behave very differently but neither will work. If I hear anyone else making
this work I'll continue trying.

I would also like recommendations for other Java programming environments
for a Newbie.

On another subject I have been running another Linux box for around 5 years
now at work. It has the equivalent of Redhat 5.2 on it. I have installed
in it 4 Linksys networking cards in it. I have my network divided into 2
class C nets using private addresses the Linux box forwards packets between
the 2 networks and acts as the Samba server for both. I have 2 ISDN modems
hooked up to the other 2 network cards. The Linux box is masquerading my
class C address to the internet on them. It also is my mail server having
aprox 15 accounts on it that are accessed from windows machines any lost
mail is forwarded to a SCO Unix box on my network that has aprox 60 accounts
all accessed through a proprietary program. All works fine at this time I
just checked and my uptime for this Linux box is 275 days without a reboot.
I would like to upgrade this box to Mandrake 6.1 any hints would be
appreciated especially on configuring mail. I think I have the masquerading
and forwarding all figured out. I need to be able to do this with minimal
down time and I do have other computers available for me to use.
