There is no way to get an entire directory structure with recursive
descent with standard FTP.
In standard FTP, "mget" <filespec> gets a directory at a time. You may
want to turn prompting off with "prompt".
Better, use ncftp, and don't worry about "prompt".
You might look at sitecopy, which will do what you want, although it isn't
intended for it. :-)
